Points and High Performance Program

The sport of breaking is well on its way towards the Olympics, and we are doing our best to adapt to the constantly changing landscape of key qualifying and point builder events across the globe.

Breaking Canada has revised its Points Structure Guidelines to adapt to the latest Breaking for Gold Series and announcement of events.

Please keep in mind that all members must be in good standing with their Regional DanceSport Association in order to be eligible to accumulate points within this system.

As per the new guidelines, the key changes are as follows:

  • Accumulated points are now revised to count up to a maximum of 12 months prior to today’s date.

  • Challenge Level events have increased in value as of the date of Points Structure modified publication date and will be retroactive starting from September 1st, 2022 (within the July 1st Olympic Qualification Period).

  • The Bboy and Bgirl Canadian Champion will represent Canada at the WDSF World Breaking Championships in Belgium in September 2023.

  • The 2nd Canada Representative for the WDSF World Championships will be the Breaking Canada Top Points Leader as of July 1st, 2023.  The next highest rank athlete will be deemed as the 2nd representative replacement.

Further to the Points Structure, we are very excited to publish the latest High Performance Program Selection Protocol for Breaking Canada.

The High Performance Program consists of those athletes formally named by the Canada DanceSport Breaking Committee and who are then eligible to receive support directly from Canada Dancesport and named to the National High Performance Breaking Team.

National Team members will be provided access, but not limited to::

  • Priority Eligibility (up to 2 per gender) to World Championships
  • Specialized Training Camps
  • Support for International Travel
  • Priority access to exhibition battles
  • Access to coaching and mentorship
  • Strength and Conditioning planning

The National Team will be announced after the CDS National Championship on July 1st, 2023.
